Charles Burchfield, "March Sunlight", 1926–34, watercolor and gouache.

Zoar valley is a magical place where time stops. "Descending into the valley is like a ceremony or ritual in which we leave the outside world behind and allow ourselves to be healed." (Robert Holland 2007) It is hard not to respond to the energy as the wind and the water move through Zoar's canyons. For the artist, that energy is as important as the air you breathe. Walking through the forests is like stepping back in time. With each breath you are able to shed more and more of the chaos of our modern world. It is easy to be comforted by the sun shining through the ancient trees, listening to the birds songs that spill from their branches. The potential of our great country and all its natural resources surround you. This is our land. The artists seek to honor it, and we must all work to preserve, to protect and, most importantly, to enjoy it.

Catalogs for the show are now available at the Springville Center For The Arts.
