I was a typical western New York story. Grow up and then leave for college and work. My passion was environmental sciences and the protection of nature, and over the years away I became an environmental advocate, hiker and paddler… photographing everything along the way. Ten years ago, after throwing resumes to the wind, I was surprised to be offered a job in Buffalo. After accepting, I sat on the shore of Lake Erie and thanked God for bringing me home, when I didn’t even know that I wanted to be here.

As I began exploring the regions wild areas, I discovered and fell in love with places I never knew existed growing up. I am thankful for my friends who have shown me secret places across this beautiful bioregion, through cross-country skiing, sailing, lazy summer drives and of course, numerous hikes and paddles through Zoar. Each time I enter Zoar it’s different, as new treasures, new personalities, are discovered. My favorite outing for visitors and neophyte natives alike is this magical place, and to witness their first experience of Zoar.

I have photos and oil pastel drawings hanging in private collections, but this is only my third public exhibit. Previous shows were created to raise awareness of the need to protect old-growth forests in Virginia’s National Forests.
